Book Queens, it's Christmas!
Amy Matthews, westerns, prizes and Jingle Bells
Hello lovely Book Queens! It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas, which means it’s time for our (second) annual Christmas Party. Last year we had a Bonk Busters Book Club, but this year we’re going full yeeehaaaw and diving into westerns and why they’re making a comeback. Join us this Monday, December 8 at 8.30pm (AEST). See below for the Zoom link. It will also stream live in our Facebook group.
Meet Amy Matthews
There’s a new, empowering Western genre around and we’ll be doing a seasonal dive into it when we chat to bestselling author and academic Amy Matthews, who also writes westerns under Amy Barry.
On the night, we’ll also have prizes, and some special guests … and can’t wait to see you all there.
DURING THE EVENT
The event will be held via Zoom. The link is below.
Don’t worry, your screen won’t be seen, however if it makes you more comfortable, just turn your screen off.
Please turn your sound off.
It will also stream live on our Facebook group.
We encourage you to share your insights, questions, and thoughts about the book in the comments section.

WHAT BELINDA HAS BEEN UP TO
Belinda has been immersed in French Revolution research to the point she feels she is undertaking a university course in the subject. But she doesn’t like to tackle an event so important in history without feeling she has a good a grip of it. She has, however, been emerging from time to time to go for walks (check out her photographs of the magical scenery she is posting from her ramblings on her Instagram account) and also to decorate her house in pink, white and glitter Christmas themes (she is a girl’s-girl after all!).
If you haven’t already, remember to grab yourself a copy The Feel Good NOW Journal which she wrote with Kelly Morton, and set yourself up for a glorious new year ahead!
You can find out more about Belinda’s writing adventures in her newsletter Glamour Comes from the Word Grammar
She also has an inspirational, journal prompt newsletter The Intentionalist so, if you are into zesty conscious living, be sure to subscribe.
WHAT JANE HAS BEEN UP TO
Jane has been called upon to really live what she preached in Tilda this year. 2025 is Year of the Snake in Chinese astrology, and she’s shed a thousand skins. She has been spending time in Ballina while her mum has chemo, but as you can see from the photo above, it’s a place of great healing for her too. She’ll be writing more about this over the coming months, but in the meantime, she has a Substack called The Spiral where she posts about life, personal development and meditation.

NEXT MONTH
We’re taking a much needed break over the holidays, returning February 9th renewed, refreshed and ready for a fabulous 2026. Our first guest will be Joanna Nell, talking to us about her latest novel, The Funeral Crashers. If you’d like to get ahead with book club reading over the summer, check out our fabulous lineup for the first half of the year.
Of course, we’ll still be posting in the group, sharing our summer reading – please do the same. We love our vibrant community of Book Queens and look forward to seeing you at the Christmas Party.
Love
Belinda and Jane xx
